Girls early puberty linked to unstable environment via insecure attachment in infancy
Girls are hitting puberty earlier and earlier. One recent study found that more than 10 percent of American girls have some breast development by age 7. This news has upset many people, but it may make evolutionary sense in some cases for girls to develop faster, according to the authors of a new paper published in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science.

Better interventions are needed to reduce HIV risk among men who have sex with men
Although a cognitive-behavioral intervention to encourage men who have sex with men to reduce their substance use and sexual risk behavior (as both are linked) was partially successful, a similar reduction was achieved in comparison groups who did not receive the intervention suggesting that better methods for changing behaviors are needed.

Unique Program Boosts Safe-Sex Habits Among High-Risk African American Couples
A new study has found that heterosexual African American couples in which only one partner is HIV-positive practiced safer sexual behaviors after participating in a culturally specific intervention program designed to reduce the risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. The program, based on Eban, an African concept which symbolizes “safety, security and love within one’s family and relationship space,” was designed not only to reduce risky sexual behaviors but to increase couples’ ability to communicate with each other, make safer behaviors more appealing, stay in healthy relationships and respect their communities, according to researchers.
